Web hosting for dental practices and dentist WordPress websites

Web hosting for dental practices has to keep three things working on a phone, the new patient form, the appointment booking link and the pages that show your services and location. NowHosted provides an isolated container per site, a global CDN, daily off-site backups, uptime checks every minute, a WAF and malware scanning. Patient records stay in your practice software while we host the public website around it. Free migration with zero downtime is included, and plans start at 24 USD per month billed yearly.

Keep the path from search to booked appointment open

Most new patients find a dental practice on a phone, often with a toothache or a lapsed checkup on their mind. They land on a service page, look for hours and whether you take their insurance, then tap to call or book. If the page loads slowly or the booking link fails, they go back to the map results and call the next practice.

The global CDN serves public pages and images close to the visitor. Each site runs in an isolated container, so another customer's traffic does not share your site's application environment. Visit limits are soft and there are no overage fees, which matters when an emergency dentist search or a seasonal promotion sends a burst of visitors. That does not mean unlimited capacity, so talk through expected demand when choosing a plan.

Before a campaign or a new service page goes live, test the real patient path on staging. Open the booking link, submit a test request, check where the notification arrives and confirm the click-to-call number on a phone. Repeat after plugin or theme updates. An uptime check every minute tells us when the website stops answering, but it cannot prove that your scheduling vendor accepts bookings or that a form email reaches the front desk.

Smile galleries are the other common weight. Before and after photos, team portraits and office tours add up quickly. Compress them before upload and check that they do not push the page past a few seconds on mobile. Storage is pooled across your plan, so an image-heavy practice site should be sized by its media library, not just its visits.

  • Keep the call and booking buttons visible on mobile pages.
  • Test forms and booking links before running ads to a page.
  • Use staging to check updates before publishing them.
  • Keep daily off-site backups available for recovery after a bad update.

Keep patient information in your practice systems

A public WordPress website should not collect medical history, insurance numbers or treatment details. Send that information into your practice management software or patient portal, with the access controls and retention policy your practice chooses. Scheduling and patient communication tools are third-party services. Their accounts, permissions and availability remain separate from NowHosted, even when your website links to them.

Review what your forms actually save. A new patient inquiry can collect a name, phone number, preferred time and a general reason for the visit without asking for clinical detail. Make sure any intake form that does collect health information leads to the secure workflow your software provides, not to a WordPress upload folder or an email attachment. Check the form plugin's stored entries and notification settings as part of the review.

NowHosted's job is to protect and operate the website layer. HTTPS everywhere encrypts connections to the site, the WAF filters hostile requests, and malware scanning checks site files. Isolation separates each site's application environment. Daily off-site backups provide a recovery copy, and access roles keep hosting permissions appropriate to each person. A DPA is available on request through [email protected]. The Secure WordPress hosting page explains the hosting controls.

Hosting does not establish HIPAA compliance, and we do not describe it that way. Compliance depends on how your practice handles protected health information, which vendors you sign agreements with and how staff are trained. If your compliance advisor needs particular contract terms from a website host, raise that before buying, and record in your own policies which systems hold patient data and which only hold marketing pages.

A backup can keep information that was later deleted from the live site, which is one more reason to keep sensitive data out of WordPress in the first place. Limit administrator accounts, remove people when they leave and review the plugins that receive patient inquiries.

Manage every location and your marketing agency in one account

A single dentist may need one website. A group practice often has a main site, a page set per location and a microsite for a service like orthodontics or implants. Business covers up to 3 sites. Agency covers up to 20 sites for multi-location groups and for agencies that run websites for many practices. Count the sites you operate today and the ones you plan to open, including a staging copy.

On Agency, the practice owner holds Owner access, the office manager handles Billing, the marketing agency gets Developer access and a regional manager can hold the Client role. Match each invitation to a task instead of sharing one login. Hosting roles control the hosting account only. They do not grant permissions inside your practice software or replace WordPress user roles.

Keep ownership with the practice when an outside agency manages the site. The office manager should know who controls the domain and who can approve a migration. When an agency engagement ends, remove its access and review the accounts it used. Our reseller hosting for agencies page explains the account tools for agencies managing separate client sites.

For each location, record the domain, the booking link, the phone number and the person who reviews changes. A wrong phone number on one location page costs real appointments, so include location pages in the same checklist as the main site. Choose North America as the server region for a US practice. Scale adds SSO and an audit log when a larger group needs central sign-in and a record of account activity.

Dental practice hosting plans and what they cost

Choose a plan around the sites you operate and the people managing them. Business suits a solo or small practice with a main site and a few related sites. Agency fits a group with several locations or an agency serving dental clients. Scale adds room and account controls for a large group.

Plan Yearly billing Monthly billing Sites Monthly visits Fits
Business Yearly billing24 USD per month, 288 USD per year Monthly billing49 USD per month Sites3 Monthly visits100k FitsSolo and small dental practices
Agency Yearly billing74 USD per month, 888 USD per year Monthly billing149 USD per month Sites20 Monthly visits600k FitsMulti-location groups or agencies serving dentists
Scale Yearly billing199 USD per month, 2,388 USD per year Monthly billing399 USD per month Sites60 Monthly visits2M FitsLarge dental groups needing SSO and an audit log

Visit limits are soft, with no overage fees. Every plan includes free migration, SSL, the WAF, malware scanning, daily off-site backups and staging. Scheduling software and patient portal subscriptions are separate purchases. Compare billing periods and the full feature list on the WordPress hosting plans page before selecting the plan your office manager will own.

Move your website with a review before the DNS switch

We create a staging copy of your current WordPress website so you can review it before anything moves. Ask the office manager to test the booking link, the new patient form, click-to-call and the notification emails. Check the mobile menu and the location pages as well. Use test information, and keep staging out of patient communications.

You approve the copy before we switch DNS. The old host keeps serving visitors during the move, which lets us migrate with zero downtime. Keep the existing hosting account available while you confirm the new site and form delivery. The free website migration page explains the process. Tell us about domain email records before the switch so website changes do not interrupt the practice's email.

NowHosted hosts your practice's website. We do not host Dentrix, Eaglesoft, Open Dental or any other practice management software, and moving WordPress does not move patient records. If your team needs remote access to desktop dental software, choose a separate application hosting provider and review that service's requirements with your IT team.

Start with the read-only audit on our homepage if you want to assess the current website. It checks response time, TLS certificate expiry, security headers and cache status without changing the site. It does not inspect patient information or certify compliance. Use its findings to plan a migration review.

Questions dental practices ask

  • The best web hosting for dental practices keeps the website fast on phones, the new patient form working and the booking link reachable at all hours. Look for isolation, HTTPS, a WAF, daily off-site backups, staging and uptime checks. NowHosted includes these on managed WordPress hosting, with free migration.

  • NowHosted Business costs 24 USD per month billed yearly, or 288 USD per year, for up to 3 sites. Monthly billing costs 49 USD per month. Agency starts at 74 USD per month billed yearly for up to 20 sites. Your scheduling and patient portal subscriptions are separate from website hosting.

  • A hosting plan does not make a practice HIPAA compliant, and NowHosted is not marketed as HIPAA certified. Keep protected health information off your public WordPress site, collect it only inside your practice management or patient portal systems, and review any contract your compliance advisor requires before you buy.

  • Keep website forms to ordinary contact details and a general request such as a cleaning or consultation. Send medical history, insurance details and anything clinical into your practice software or patient portal. Review what your form plugin stores and emails, because saved entries and notifications can retain more than you expect.

  • No. Each location can have its own site or page set under one hosting account. Business covers up to 3 sites and Agency covers up to 20, with roles for the owner, office manager and marketing agency. Keep each location's name, address and phone consistent across its pages and listings.

  • Moving hosts does not inherently change rankings when your domain, URLs and content stay the same and the site stays available. Rankings can still fluctuate. We copy the website to staging for your review and switch DNS after approval. Check redirects, indexing settings and key service pages during that review.
